The food-grade silica products under W.R. Grace & Co. (U.S.) are mainly concentrated in three major series: SYLOID®, TRISYL®, and PER KASIL®, which are widely used in food processing, edible oil refining, nutritional supplements, and other fields. SYLOID® Series: Multifunctional Food-Grade Silica  

The SYLOID® series is Grace’s most representative food-grade silica product line, certified by the FDA (21 CFR 172.480) and approved by the European EFSA (E551). It is mainly used for moisture-proofing, anti-caking, flow improvement, and oil adsorption.  

1. SYLOID® 63 FP

Properties: High porosity, low hygroscopicity, capable of adsorbing liquids 2.5 times its own weight.  

Applications:  

– Nutritional supplements: Used as an anti-caking agent for powdered vitamins and minerals to prevent caking and improve flowability.  

– Seasonings: Used for moisture-proof treatment of salt, sugar, and spices to extend shelf life.

2.SYLOID® 244 FP

4.SYLOID® AL-1 FP  

Properties: High specific surface area (200-300 m²/g), strong hygroscopicity.  

Applications:  

– Baked foods: Absorbs trace moisture to prevent starch retrogradation and extend shelf life.  

– Dairy products: Used for anti-caking treatment of milk powder and cheese powder.  

– Technical Parameters: Particle size of approximately 5-10 μm, suitable for ultra-fine powder processing.  

TRISYL® Series: Silica Specialized for Edible Oil Refining  

The TRISYL® series is specially designed for edible oil refining, certified by FDA GRAS. It is used to remove phospholipids, metal ions, and saponins, thereby improving oil quality.  

1.TRISYL® 150 IE

Properties: High-purity synthetic amorphous silica (>99.9% SiO₂).  

Applications:  

– Enzymatic transesterification: Extends the service life of enzymes, replaces traditional hydrogenation processes, and produces zero-trans fat oils.  

– Fish oil refining: Removes off-flavor substances and heavy metal residues.

2.TRISYL® 300

Properties: High adsorption capacity, capable of removing colloidal nickel and saponins.
